A Green Wall company from BC, Canada – G-Sky – has some solidly built panels for vertical gardens. The frame is made of stainless steel and each panel holds 9 – 13 plants and is 1 ft by 1 ft or so. They typically sell their panels already planted. The plants they use for their green wall if you get their pre-planted panels are :

Euonymus japonicus ‘Microphyllus’
Euonymus japonicus ‘Microphyllus Aureovariegatus’
Euonymus japonicus ‘Microphyllus Albovariegatus’
Gaultheria procumbens
Polypodium glycrrhiza

In that picture you can easily see the panel dimensions. It takes a bit for the plants to grow in. Once they do, the green wall starts to take shape and you can’t see the panels any more.

You can really start to see that putting enough of the green wall planters in a row makes one amazing looking wall. In an urban environment, think how well this could give some privacy from the neighbors while giving you something good to look at.

You can really notice how the type of plants you use make a difference. The top plants in the picture above really filled, where some of the other plants haven’t grown the same and kind of breaks up the potentially lush look of a living wall.

I really love the look of that last piece of real living wall art. G-Sky surrounded the green wall with what looks to be a stainless steel frame and ends up looking amazing.

If you can get a custom made steel frame for your vertical garden, kudos to you because that looks incredible.
